The Journal of New Materials for Electrochemical Systems (JNMES) was created at the Symposium of New Materials in 1994 by Oumarou Savadogo, Dr. és Science Physiques, Professor of Material Sciences, Energy and Electrochemisty at Polytechnique Montréal.

 

The first symposium was held in 1995 and the first issue of JNMES was published in January, 1998. ​The Journal is now linked to the International Association of New Materials for Electrochemical Systems.
